Hi love. surely someone has already told you this or you've already read it but there's an incredible poem by Nicola Jane Hobbs which begins: "Growing up, I never knew a relaxed woman..." I don't read Elizabeth Gilbert but I imagine she was vibing off this as it was one of those poems that went viral on social media, so probably inspired a lot of other women writers. anyway, what you've written here is lovely. I *am* an incredibly relaxed woman (like seriously, you should see how fantastically messy my house is, I'm totally at home in chaos) although I can't say why exactly…but yes, I think what you've said here about developing a deep trust in life, and the inherent goodness of others is probably key. And for me personally, as you probably know, my meditation practice and a deepening connection with the spirit realm has been a pivotal factor in me feeling such a deep trust in life xxx

Oh this is so powerful Elizabeth, thank you for sharing and hi, it feels like it has been a while, I have missed your insights! Being a relaxed mother/woman is absolutely something I am on board with but often need reminding (thank you for this!), there have been a few changes lately and I notice that I am moving slightly slower than my usual frenzied pace so that helps! Have you seen Nicola Jane Hobbs’ work and new book, The Relaxed Woman https://www.instagram.com/nicolajanehobbs?igsh=MTZyZHB2cGh1MXV3dw== ?? xx

I really love this. I so agree with all of it. I want to be there too! Especially as a home educating mum in amongst the madness. I find it a challlenge to have that deep sense of trust that everything will be fine, that being the restful state. And as you say especially when the women before us have not been in that state either. I come from women who were always doing and doing and the only rest was they got was at bedtime. Even then I’m sure it was probably not at ease. I guess we are rewriting this for our own children, encouraging them to follow their own needs too.
