I'm noise sensitive too Elizabeth. I recently got a pair of Loop earplugs and they've been a game changer for me. I use them to drown out background noise when reading and writing and found it a lovely way to focus my attention. Time in nature, good books and entering flow state whilst writing are my biggest cup fillers 💛

Ah that's really interesting, I've been looking at them and wondered if they were really as good as they sound. Thanks for the recommendation, I will try them! Oh and massive yes for entering a flow state writing 😍 a huge energy giver!

I appreciate your reflections here! I can definitely relate, down to a similar happy but exhausted photo on the day of #3’s birth. :)

What a beautiful, beautiful read. So many relatable points. I was JUST having the conversation with a friend over coffee this morning (energy giving time!) about the conversations I have had with my own kids on being aware of energy takers and givers. What timing, right?! I can also relate to sunshine and nature as charging me up. Lately, so have little naps whenever the body calls for it. We've also gone alcohol free! It's truly not discussed enough how toxic that substance is. xoxoxo

🙌 Amazing! That's so cool Missy, what timing. I completely agree, there needs to be more discussions around alcohol. I've read some great books and connected with a few people on Instagram but I would love to connect with more people here. Thanks for reading and thanks for connecting xx

In regards to your admission of fear, I am halfway through this book: The Tools: 5 Tools to Help You Find Courage, Creativity, and Willpower--and Inspire You to Live Life in Forward Motion. Some wonderful applications here to help negate the energy draining powers of fear.

That's wonderful Catherine! Just sending a little awareness to those energy givers and takers can help to bring a little balance to things 🫶

We’re going to have a chat about it with the family and each come up with a list of things that take energy and boost it back - it’ll be interesting to see what we agree on and where we differ! Hopefully that’ll help me suggest ideas when the kids get overwhelmed. It’s lovely to have activities and places as energy givers and takers not just people - we tend to think of people that help or hinder us but my neurodiverse family all find people hard work so it will help us think of wider ideas :-) Really appreciate your post and it’s made us think more about how we interact with life.

That's such a great idea Catherine, it will be fascinating as each family member will have unique energy givers/takers. And a really interesting point about how being around people is hard work, so being able to seek a recharge from other things could be really helpful. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts 🙏
